Planting Hole Sizes, Amendments, Stake Kits and Needed Access for Planting

Here is a chart of hole sizes in relation to the pot size or tree trunk's diameter on any Job's document (Quote, Order, or Invoice).  Job's uses the industry standard way of pot size reference. For example a 6 inch pot is a #1 pot (pronounced as a number 1 pot) which is also the same as the old term 1 gallon, though it never is able to hold a gallon of water. The correct amount of soil amendment, staking materials, and when the tree is heavy enough to need equipment.

Hole Size, Amendment, and Stake Kits for Trees with Access Needed 

 #10) Normal Suggested: hole size 24” diameter by 12” deep, 2-point stake kit (if needed), 3/4 to 1 cu ft soil amendment (compost).

#15) Normal Suggested: hole size 30” diameter by 13” deep, 2-point stake kit (if needed), 1 1/2 to 2 cu ft soil amendment (compost).

#20) Normal Suggested: hole size 32” diameter by 14” deep, 2-point stake kit, 2 to 2 1/2 cu ft soil amendment (compost).

 #25 Normal Suggested: hole size 36” diameter by 15” deep, 2-point stake kit, 2 1/2 to 3 cu ft soil amendment (compost). 

#40 Normal Suggested: hole size 48” diameter by 18” deep, 3-point stake kit, 5 cu ft soil amendment (compost).
